Obituary

Genevieve Conboy, 89, of DeWitt, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, while at Francis House. She was born in Utica, New York, on January 3, 1933, the daughter of Edward C. and Mary Elizabeth Conboy. She graduated from New Hartford High School in New Hartford, New York. She worked in the Utica area until 1960 when she moved to Syracuse, New York. She worked for Dr. D.V. Needham for eight years and Crouse Hospital Medical Imaging for 28 years before retiring.

Genevieve was a communicant of Holy Cross Church and shared her strong faith with her family. She greatly enjoyed her travels with her sisters to London; Ireland; Hawaii; Cancun, Mexico; Branson, Missouri; the Outer Banks of North Carolina; Nova Scotia; and Florida. She loved her ladies’ golf leagues and before that tennis and ceramics.

She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Mae Conboy as well as her seven siblings: John Conboy, Richard Conboy, Edward Conboy, Jr., Robert Conboy, Mary Skube, Elizabeth Gillson, and Patricia Shannon. She is survived by sister-in-law, Gerry Conboy as well as nieces and nephews, Kate Fitzpatrick (Washington, CT), Sue Ann Perry (Orlando, FL), Margie Counihan (Midlothian, VA), Donna Novak (Westmoreland, NY), Deborah Downing (DeWitt NY), Roberta Coffey (Marietta, NY), Terry Connors (Oakdale, CT), Shellie Graves (Canonsburg, PA), Shana Robinson (Easton, MD), Kelly Ragan (Saratoga Springs, NY), John Conboy (Cincinnati, OH), Tim Conboy (Camillus, NY), Patrick Conboy (Syracuse, NY), Patrick Gillson (DeWitt, NY), Edward “Tim” Conboy (Whitesboro, NY), Mark Shannon (Cincinnati, OH), Sean Conboy (Indian Head Park, IL) and Kevin Conboy (Wilbraham, MA). She was predeceased by nephew, Thomas Gillson and niece, Mary Joan Goetz.

The family is grateful for the loving care she received from Francis House, Hospice, and Peace at Homecare, the service received at her apartment by landlord GNA Properties, LLC, and for the gift of golf and companionship she received from childhood friend Tom Kientzle.

Calling hours are Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Holy Cross Church, 4112 E. Genesee Street, DeWitt, NY 13214. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Church with burial immediately following in St. Mary’s Cemetery next door.
